Rotarians and Friends

This event has been discussed at Club Meetings recently. John Jones is leading this project. He has invited School Principles and Teachers to a presentation by Dandelions WA. They will do a presentation on the Back Pack program and explain how schools can access it.

Some light foods will be provided.

The event is on Thursday 19th March 2026 starting at 6.00pm.

Please come along at 5.30pm to assist with any set-up that may be required.

PLease wear your Rotary Shirt if you have one.

Feel free to invite guests but make sure you let John know for catering numbers.

Come and enjoy some fellowship at Chillax Chinese Restaurant in Beelier Dr, Yangebup.  Please make sure you respond to invite as we require at least 24 attendees and as there has been a banquet organised with a good range of dishes we need to know numbers. Based on 24  the cost will be $27 per person payable on the night.

Our changeover this year will be "Christmas in July", kindly hosted by Rosinda at her home.

It will be a Sunday lunch with all of us contributing to our Christmas feast.  Can you please let me know what you will be bringing so we have a good mix of food.

It will also be BYO drinks.

Following today's wonderful "Christmas in July" fellowship and changeover event, it has been decided to cancel the Club Meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

We look forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting, which will be held on Tuesday 4 August 2026. 

Invitations for that meeting will be sent out in due course. 

You are invited to attend our club meeting.    

Paul Walling will be attending this evening to provide us with information about his passsion - that is to provide eligible Nurses with a medal that gives them a reason to be proud of their career, their passion towards nursing patients back to health and being the backbone to the health system. Currently, the WA Government and Australian Government do not believe Nurses to be worthy of recognition for thier services to community. Paul is a registered nurse who changed professions and now works for the WA Police as a civilian servant. 

He strongly believes that nurses deserve recogntion for their career doing a job that most people won't. 

Paul believes that nurses deserve to be recognised for their commitment and service to their communities. Unlike other public officers, nurses are not granted the recognition for their service.

The purpose of the Medals for Nurses campaign is:

1. To have the State Government of Western Australia recognise the service of nurses to the community by the implementation of a “Western Australia Nursing Service Medal” for Diligent and Ethical Service.
2. To have all the state governments of Australia recognise the service of nurses to their community by the implementation of a “State Nursing Service Medal” for Diligent and Ethical Service.
3. To have the Australia Government “It’s an Honour” recognise the service of nurses to their community by the implementation of a “National Nursing Service Medal” for Diligent and Ethical Service.

No Guest Speaker this week

Our Club is hosting a Zone Final of the Districy 4 Way Test Speaking Competition at the BARC on THursday 10 September. We will need some help on the night, so please respond with your availability asap. I will MC the night, Geoff will mange the door/entry. We'll need someone to operate the laptop with the slides on the big screen.

We'll need to be there around 5.30 to ensure the room is set up properly.

There are 2 year 10 speakers and 2 year 6 speakers.

I will also see if we can arrange a raffle prize and make some money as well.
