The Earbus project commenced in 2013 on the initiation of Charter Member Ian, together with Heather and then incoming President Peter.
The object was to support a Mobile Children's Ear Clinic, which coordinates services to children, who are at-risk for middle ear disease, most specifically in the remote area of the Northwest of Western Australia.
The Club support to the Earbus Foundation of WA (EFWA) was initially to be sourcing funds to purchase a suitable heavy duty four wheel drive vehicle suitable for the rugged northwest of Western Australia and the construction of a special purpose audio clinic module to be mounted on the vehicle.
However, it soon became apparent that the Foundation required technical support for the design and construction phases for the acoustic module. This has been provided throughout the year by members Tony, Peter and Nick, plus the later addition of an acoustic consultant, Allan. Member Scott also supported the team by preparing and modifying the drawings as required during the course of the project. The current funding status at June 2015 is that the Club has raised $107,650 in donations and pledges, plus a most welcome late pledge of $50,000 for the purchase of the vehicle, bringing the total to $157,600. The “donations team” and their supporters are to be congratulated for their work
